Due to health reasons, defender Andrej Šustr from Kunlun from the Continental League dropped out of the nomination of Czech hockey players for the Karjala tournament in Helsinki. On the other hand, the selection of coach Filip Pešán will be supplemented, if necessary, by defender David Sklenička from the Jokerit Helsinki, who is still waiting for a duel in the KHL on the ice of Sochi on Tuesday.
Sklenička, like his teammate Jakub Krejčík, was disqualified on Saturday due to the Jokerit program. “If necessary, he would join the team after the club returns from outdoor matches directly in Helsinki,” said Czech hockey spokesman Zdeněk Zikmund.
In the nomination, Pešán and Sklenička have a maximum of thirty players allowed, with an agreed exception – three goalkeepers, 10 defenders and 17 forwards. There are also ten representatives under the age of 20 in the staff, which the coach was going to include in the final match against Russia, which was nominated by the junior team.
