Ryan Giggs, Wales coach and Manchester United legend, arrested for domestic violence

The Welsh Football Association (FAW) for its part said in a statement “to be aware of an incident involving the coach of the national team, Ryan Giggs”, adding however that it would make “no comment to this Stadium”.

Police were called to the home of the iconic former Manchester United player in Salford on Sunday evening after being informed of incidents, according to The Sun newspaper.

Ryan Giggs, 46, was later arrested and questioned on suspicion of violence resulting in injury.

Manchester Police admitted in a statement that they were called around 10:05 p.m. Sunday and that a woman in her 30s had been slightly injured, but her was not in need of treatment.

“A 46-year-old man was arrested” for violence, she added, without giving further details. She said the man was released on bail pending further investigation.

His lawyers have said he denies all allegations of assault against him and that he is cooperating with the police, the BBC reports.

The Wales team canceled the press conference scheduled for Tuesday in which Giggs was to announce his squad roster for a friendly against USA and Nations League games against Ireland and Finland, scheduled for November.

Ryan Giggs was appointed Wales coach in January 2018 after a distinguished playing career in which he won with Manchester United, among others, 13 league titles in England, and two in the Champions League. He has also been selected 64 times for the Wales squad.
