Unknown to many fans before the start of the season, kicker Rodrigo Blankenship was quick to make a name for himself in the NFL.
It’s hard to imagine an athlete 6ft 1in tall with less than 185 pounds on the scale sharing the locker room with mirrored cabinets. And yet, he deserved his place in the Colts.
Since playing his first game in an Indianapolis uniform on September 13, the 23-year-old rookie has sent the ball between the posts 23 times out of 26 attempts.
This represents a rate of 88.46%. There is something to be proud of.
In his most recent outing against the Packers, Blankenship completed four kicks, including the overtime victory. His performance earned him the AFC Special Teams Player of the Week award.
Good job, Rodrigo.
THEY RETURNED AND WON AT HOME!

Rodrigo Blankenship has made a name for himself
The rather atypical appearance for a football player of Rodrigo Blankenship attracts the spotlight, which remains on him in view of his prowess.
We must admit that with his hipster-style glasses that give him an intellectual look and his pro billiard silhouette, we would see him more in the skin of a fanatic vinyl record store.
Or sit in your living room, playing with LEGOs. I’m exaggerating a little, you think? Yet this is exactly what the undrafted athlete was doing, the day before the Colts called him to tell him that the kicker position was his!

A source of inspiration (and jokes)
Some people laugh, but it’s nothing bad.

Rodrigo Blankenship even became a role model for many young people wearing vision glasses.
My little guy gets so excited when he sees you on tv. He wears very similar glasses and loves to see an actual NFL playing sporting specs! #RespectTheSpecs Thank you for making him feel like he’s not the only one! pic.twitter.com/IygXUd9CLm

Besides talent, the kicker’s laid back demeanor and charisma played a role in the rise of his popularity.
He’s cool, Rodrigo. Hopefully for him and the Colts that his success will continue.
