Maradona died of sadness, says Argentine journalist

That was what Julio Chiapetta said in an article by Clarín, about which he spoke on Blu Radio.

Chiapetta wrote in the Argentine newspaper that Diego Maradona was going through depression, anxiety and anguish so great that his doctors suggested that he continue his recovery in Cuba, a country he loved and where former President Fidel Castro shared with his friend.

The Argentine stated on the station that the internal problem between the Maradona family prevented their children from joining, and when they did “it was too late.”

“Really Diego [Maradona] he died of sadness. Sadness because he was going through three specific situations; the first, not being able to get their children together on their birthday, the second, in this pandemic, he missed his mother, Mrs. Tota. He felt that he needed her more than ever; and the third, the fact of the pandemic, and because he was a risk patient, he could not go to train, ”Chiapetta told the radio.

Although the journalist attributes sentimental reasons to the death of the Argentine “star”, Legal Medicine said they were natural causes. The lawyer and friend of the ex-footballer reported that he did not have medical attention for 12 hours and that the ambulance was slow to arrive.

Chiapetta stated in her article that Maradona died asleep, surrounded by some relatives.

A year ago, one of Maradona’s daughters asked to pray for his health, and assured that they were “killing” him.

Today, the Argentine people gathered around the coffin of ‘Pelusa’ to say goodbye, between songs, tears and kisses.

Maradona, who died this Wednesday after a cardiac arrest, at age 60, will be buried in a cemetery, where his parents are, a spokesman for the soccer legend told AFP.
