Manchester United remains “absolutely indebted” to manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, says vice chairman Ed Woodward.

Woodward’s comments were included in the club’s first quarter results, which were incorrectly released on Thursday.

Solskjaer came under heavy pressure after successive defeats to Arsenal and Istanbul Baseksehir.

But Woodward said the club “remains absolutely committed to the positive path we are taking under Ole”.

United are 14th in the Premier League after winning three of their first seven games and losing three.

The electronic publisher that publishes United’s regulatory statements ran a test Thursday and falsely went live with the numbers. They shouldn’t be published until Friday noon GMT.

United had already announced that it would not hold a conference call for investors on the results, which was released three weeks after the final results for 2019-20 were released.

Total sales were £ 109 million, down 19.5% from the same quarter last year.

Matchday income fell significantly as the games continued to be played behind closed doors. However, United still made £ 1.7m from a combination of member sales and rental income from real estate in the Old Trafford area.

Broadcast revenue rose on the July Premier League games while commercial revenue fell 25.7% to £ 59.7 million.

The company will pay a dividend of $ 0.09 (6.86 pence) on shares on January 7, 2021.

Woodward added: “While the Covid-19 pandemic continues to cause significant disruption, we are optimistic that the recovery and normalization period is gradually coming.

“The club’s resilience and our strong commercial business continue to build a solid foundation and give us confidence in our long-term prospects beyond the pandemic, both on and off the field.”
