For the third time in a row, the Denver Nuggets are wearing a skyline uniform as an option for the “City” edition. However, this is the first time that red has been used as the main color.

“Flatirons Red, a color that points to the Colorado landscape, is a universal goodwill color,” said Declan Bolger, Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer of Denver Nuggets Sr. said NBA.com. “That is the meaning of the jersey and it reflects the unique community that lives in Denver.”

The skyline design “celebrates City and Mile High basketball, inspires a culture of diversity and builds bridges through basketball,” says the team’s official press release.

Unfortunately, this is the final year of a three-year program celebrating the design of the team’s Skyline jersey. The team announced that for future City Edition uniforms, starting next season, the 45th in the NBA, it will focus on the history of its franchise.

The Nuggets first wore a Skyline shirt in 1981-82 and continued it for a dozen seasons before finally retiring after the 1992-93 season. The original skyline design is sometimes referred to as the “rainbow skyline” Look how it showed a multi-colored across the chest. Although it’s been gone for almost 30 years, the unusual design has kept the hearts and memories of both Nuggets fans and those who like sports uniforms.
