Novak Djokovic 6-3 * 4-1 Diego Schwartzman. Unfortunately, Schwartzman just doesn’t have enough weapons to disturb Djokovic at this level. From 30-30, Djokovic advanced down the line after a nice backhand and finished the point with a nice drop volley. Schwartzman then rolled over a forehand at the break point to seal the double break. It’s all over.

Novak Djokovic 6-3 3-1 * Diego Schwartzman. Schwartzman started the game very well, increased the pace with his basic strokes and took the ball early. He pushed a forehand on the line to lead 0:15, but after another positive point he went into the net and released Djokovic’s backhand crosscourt pass shot which landed.
Schwartzman reached 30-30 but Djokovic rode the pressure brilliantly. At 30-30 he found a nice serve 1-2. At the time of the game, his length from both ground strokes was delicious and he eventually forced a backhand error. Half a chance for Schwartzman doesn’t help.

Novak Djokovic 6-3 * 2-1 Diego Schwartzman. Schwartzman stops the game against him at 5 a.m. and closes the hold with his first ace of the afternoon. A very good service game of his, in which he grabbed the ball early and pushed the Serb continuously behind the baseline. He desperately needs more of it just to have a chance.

Novak Djokovic 6-3 Diego Schwartzman
Despite Djokovic’s one slip, it was otherwise a solid game of tennis. Schwartzman did his best to stay at the # 1, but he just couldn’t keep his level consistently. Djokovic finished the set of 30-30 with a backhand down the line, followed by another unreturned serve.

Novak Djokovic * 5-3 Diego Schwartzman. Djokovic breaks and he will serve for the first set.
Schwartzman was immediately out at 0:30, but reacted incredibly well to the danger, found his first serve and took the initiative early behind and switched to 40:30 with an overhead winner, but from then on it got a bit chaotic. He hit consecutive casual mistakes to give Djokovic a breakpoint advantage.
Djokovic almost made it at first glance, pitching an angled forehand pass that cut off the top of the net and was sent wide. On his second breakpoint of the game, Djokovic scored one of the best points of the game when he hit Schwartzman with a fantastic inside-in-forehand winner after a long, thoughtful point of angles and washers from both players. One game away.

Novak Djokovic 4-3 * Diego Schwartzman. A sublime stop from Djokovic. From 15 to 30 he simply increased his level. First he broke Schwartzman’s trustworthy backhand with a powerful forehand inside-out, then pulled out a handsome, angled drop volley winner. At 40-30, he sealed the hold with a huge forehand down the line winner. How long can Schwartzman stay with him?
09:40
Novak Djokovic * 3-3 Diego Schwartzman. That was some hold. Djokovic raved between 30 and 30 after crushing Schwartzman’s forehand with another long, grueling rally. Schwartzman responded between 30 and 30 by finding a first serve and crunching the following forehand. With an excellent serve on the T at the game point, he hit another game on the board.

Novak Djokovic 3-2 * Diego Schwartzman. This time no problems serving Djokovic. He relaxes with a second love grip in the afternoon and finishes it off with a really nice forehand drop volley after a searing inside-out forehand.
09:31
Novak Djokovic * 2-2 Diego Schwartzman. A very solid Djokovic is falling back. This time it was a loose service game by Schwartzman, who made a slight double mistake himself when he was 15-30. After Schwartzman saved the first breakpoint, the pair had one of their first extended exchanges, with Djokovic correcting a Schwartzman forehand error with a nice injection of width.
These are two of the best returnees in the business, so breaks aren’t at all surprising.

Novak Djokovic 1-2 * Diego Schwartzman. A brilliant start from Schwartzman who takes the first break to take the lead. Djokovic produced a poor service game, throwing a double fault at 0-15 and then a loose forehand fault at 15-30. He saved the first break well, but the Argentine pulled him into the net with a nasty short backhand cut before picking him up on the line with a forehand pass. Very well done.

preamble
Hello! Welcome to our coverage on the second day of the ATP final in the O2 Arena. After Rafael Nadal’s efficient first win against Andrey Rublev yesterday, top seed Novak Djokovic will try to meet his old rival here as he takes on debutant Diego Schwartzman.
Djokovic starts as a heavy favorite. He leads the head-to-head game 5-0 against Schwartzman and the Argentine has never won a set against him on hard courts.
What a moment this is for the tiny Argentine. A few months ago, in September, he returned from the tour break in terrible form and lost in the opening round of the US Open to the British Cameron Norrie from two lineups. It wasn’t until he arrived in Rome and faced Rafael Nadal in the quarterfinals that he came to life.
After scoring his first win against Nadal, he reached the final in Rome and took his swing at Roland Garros, where he reached his first slam semi-final. While some players struggled during these strange times, Schwartzman produced the best tennis of his career to reach the top 10 for the first time at the age of 28. We’ll see if he can create a surprise today.
