Norway cancels the game, the ÖFB team faces a fixed promotion – football

Austria’s Nations League group will very likely be decided on the “green table”. Norway will not go on an away trip.

Full-back Omar Elabdellaoui is the stumbling block, he was tested positive for Corona – now the entire Norwegian team has to be in quarantine for at least ten days.

So the game in Romania has already been officially “postponed”, not completely canceled. The same applies to the meeting with Austria in Vienna as pretty much fixed.

Because catch-up dates are virtually impossible due to the tight UEFA schedule, the following rule applies: A team must compete if they can muster 13 fit players including a goalkeeper. If the game still does not take place, the team that caused the cancellation will be sanctioned 0: 3.

In this case, the Norwegians would lose their chance of winning the group. Should Austria get at least one point against Northern Ireland on Sunday (Vienna, 8:45 p.m.), the ÖFB team would be group winners and promoted to the A-League without a fight.
