nearly 4 million euros for the base at the Temple and the greenways

The Region chaired by Alain Rousset voted during the standing committee of 23 November a number of subsidies for tourism and sports projects. Almost 4 million euros will be allocated to the creation of greenways in the west of the department and to the restructuring project of the Temple base.

Modernization of the base

In detail, 2,750,000 euros will be paid to the company that operates the multi-sports base to fit out and renovate it. Recall that the base created in 1970 aims to be retained as a preparatory center for the 2024 Olympic Games and thus host national selections.

The modernization works will lead, among other things, to a new fitness center, consisting of an indoor swimming pool, an outdoor swimming pool, balneotherapy and two training and bodybuilding rooms, and a new offer of fitness. accommodation with a capacity of 28 rooms, or 56 beds on two levels.

The work also concerns the creation of a sports hall with a surface area of ​​1,422 m² which will accommodate several sports on approved surfaces (basketball, volleyball, handball, table tennis. , badminton, judo, taekwondo…).

Greenway on Marmande-Samazan

On the front of the greenways, the Region will give the Val de Garonne agglomeration € 1,006,228.75 for the completion of the Marmande-Samazan section (11.4 km) in order to reach Casteljaloux.

This is to reuse the right-of-way of an old railway line.

Finally, at the same time, the Region is granting € 217,825.22 to the Community of communes of the Coteaux and Landes de Gascogne for the construction of the Bouglon-Casteljaloux section, i.e. 11 km. These two projects will also be financed by aid from the European Union amounting to € 1.2 million.
