Michael Gordon Arrest, Rumor from the Gold Coast Titans, Justin Holbrook

The Gold Coast Titans were beaten up for handling Michael Gordon’s arrest after throwing Justin Holbrook to the Wolves while senior club officials hid from the media.

Gordon was resigned from the club after being arrested and charged with alleged involvement in a drug consortium over the weekend.

Channel 9’s Danny Weidler beat up the Titans for failing to answer some basic questions and leaving it to their sophomore coach.

The Titans on Monday refused to respond to Weidler’s explosive claim on Twitter that former coach Garth Brennan was being ignored by high-profile figures at the club when he reportedly raised concerns about Gordon’s appointment to the club’s coaching staff.

Holbrook said he was “disappointed” with the situation at his press conference on Monday but bypassed questions about Weidler’s report of a “big problem”.

Weidler announced more details on Tuesday about the extent of the Titans’ cultural problems.

“It’s bad, we’re not saying that Michael Gordon is to blame for anything because he obviously has a chance to prove his innocence,” Weidler said at the Big Sports Breakfast.

“But from my point of view it is bad that Garth Brennan, the former trainer of the Titans, had long discussions with the management of the Titans and told them that he had concerns.

“I’m not going to say what those concerns were, but he had concerns about Michael Gordon and some of the other people in the club and the culture that existed among the Titans.

“He told them things had to change in the club. But he was told no, we will carry on as we are. “

While the matter is on trial, Titan officials are limited in what they can say but have so far been hiding behind a brief media release.

“Michael worked on a contract basis and offered the club specialized coaching services last season,” the statement said.

“He won’t be offering any services to the club until further notice.

“The club will not comment further as the problem now lies with the police.”

Gordon will stand before Tweed Heads District Court on December 14, and Weidler believes the Titans’ fans and stakeholders deserve more transparency from the key officials involved.

“Now I really think some of these Gold Coast Titans officials are under pressure,” Weidler said.

“They ducked and weaved yesterday when they could easily have confronted the media and explained the situation and came up with the suggestion that Garth Brennan, as a coach, had problems with Michael Gordon at the club and was concerned about some of his conduct.

“Instead, they messed up coach Justin Holbrook and he had to face the media, which is totally unacceptable to the Gold Coast Titans.

“This is now a problem for management. Your management showed yesterday that they are pretty weak by not asking themselves a few questions.

“If you can’t deal with questions from Journos, how are you going to change the culture in the club that needs to be changed or has problems?
