Medvedev defeats Zverev in Paris for his third Masters 1000

Russian Daniil Medvedev beat German on Sunday Alexander Zverev 5-7, 6-4 and 6-1 in the final in Paris to add their third title of Masters 1000.

The third seed, who also defeated Zverev in the final in Shanghai last year, he came back from one set down to claim his first title of the year.

Medvedev, 24, looked more energetic in the deciding set and seized his chances against an inconsistent Zverev, who had won five of their six previous meetings against the Russian.

A double fault from the German gave the Russian his eighth title ATP after two hours and seven minutes of the game.

Both players will participate in the ATP Finals which closes the season at the O2 stadium in London from November 15 to 22.

Medvedev, the fourth Russian player to win at Bercy after Marat Safin, Nikolay Davydenko and Karen Khachanov, said he will come to the tournament full of confidence.

“I am in better shape than last year. Last year he was really exhausted, he had lost in the first round in Paris. That’s when you lose confidence, “he said.
