Manchester United have won a frugal 1-0 victory against tail team West Bromwich Albion. The man of the match was the VAR, who decided the match in 2 penalty phases.

Manchester United had not yet succeeded in winning 2 games in a row this season and they wanted to change that tonight.

But Bruno Fernandes hit Gallaghar just after the break and also hit the ball. The referee put the ball on the dot. But the VAR called the ref to order and ruled that Fernandes had not committed a violation. No penalty, United breathed a sigh of relief.

After hand play by West Brom defender Furlong, Bruno Fernandes himself was allowed to convert a penalty kick. The Portuguese’s shot was much too weak.

But again the VAR made Fernandes (and United) happy with his intervention. Goalkeeper Johnstone had left his line too early. Fernandes was allowed to kick the penalty again and this time it was hit.

Thanks to a 2nd victory in a row, United is back in the left column. West Bromwich remains disconsolate in 18th place with 3 points.
