Jets’ Adam Gase says he didn’t do the play calling against Dolphins

Who is to blame for the lousy crime of the jets?

At this point in the season, it’s hard to find more ways to describe how bad the jets are. They stink to heaven. They are the last points per game (with a margin of 5.2 points) and the fourth worst points. You’re kidding.

The offensive ineptitude is especially annoying considering coach Adam Gase is known as a quarterback whisperer. He was tricked into promoting Sam Darnold’s talents, just like he did, um … Ryan Tannehill?

After the Jets had canceled their first six games of the season, Gase handed the game over to offensive coordinator Dowell Loggains. However, in last week’s game against the Chargers, it looked like Gase had regained control of the game. He was on the air glancing at his match sheet and speaking into his head between games, but Gase explained that this was part of the Jets’ oddly convoluted game call structure. Loggains picks the game, shares gases, and gases feeds it to the quarterback, the coach told reporters after the game. It mostly sounds like an unnecessarily complicated phone game, but it also allows Gase to call his own game if he wants. He said he reserved the right to veto Loggains calls and send in his own piece if he felt Loggains hadn’t picked the right one.
