Indra Sjafri Leaks Prospective Players Descendants in the U-19 National Team

VIVA – PSSI’s Technical Director, Indra Sjafri, revealed the descendants of the players who will strengthen the U-19 Indonesian National Team.

PSSI is currently still looking for Indonesian-blooded players around the world to increase the strength of the U-19 national team who will compete in the upcoming 2021 U-20 World Cup.

Currently, PSSI has invited four descent players to join the U-19 national team training camp. They are Jack Brown, Elkan Bagott, Kelana Noah, and Luah Fynn Jeremy Mahesa.

The four players of Indonesian descent have played in the U-19 national team in a trial match in Croatia. However, the manager of the Indonesian National Team, Shin Tae-yong, still wants the addition of descendants.

Indra Sjafri said, PSSI had recorded the descendants of players from various sources. There are 40 descent players who are recorded on the radar. After going through the verification stage, PSSI narrowed the list of names to 30 players.

“The player who is informed by the media, by netizens, by all the information is approximately 40,” said Indra when met at the Madya Stadium, Jakarta, Tuesday, November 17, 2020.

“Of these 40 we verify through curriculum vitae (CV) to 30. After that we put it into legal. Which is the most likely to meet the requirements of FIFA and Law Number 12 Year 2006 concerning Citizenship,” he continued.

From that process, Indra continued the final number of descent players into nine names. Two of them have been invited, namely Kelana Noah, and Luah Fynn Jeremy Mahesa.

“After that we saw the video, we got 9. From that we have tried two from Germany (Kelana and Luah). The remaining seven will be tested. That’s why yesterday we asked TC in the Netherlands, so the children could join quickly.

Indra did not mention one by one of the seven descendants of the players who would be summoned. However, the former U-19 national team coach suggested that the majority came from the Netherlands. “The Netherlands, we were colonized by the Dutch first,” he explained.
