ATP> Rusedski: “Federer is not like a good bottle of wine that gets better over time”

Consultant for several British media, Greg Rusedski sometimes takes risks to create the buzz. Before giving you what he said about Roger Federer’s next “comeback”, it is useful to recall his track record.

Greg Rusedski was 4th player in the world. His record is 15 titles for 27 finals. In the Grand Slam, he was a finalist at the US Open in 1997, beaten by the Australian Rafter.

Asked this weekend about Federer’s return, Greg dared a haphazard comparison: “Even if Roger Federer is a ‘case’, his return cannot be identical to that of 2017. I do not believe it. When he won tournaments in 2017, the courts were particularly fast, the balls were quick and he brought a new style that his opponents weren’t expecting. Unfortunately, Federer is not like a fine bottle of wine that gets better over time. Six months and 11 months in men’s tennis is huge. Roger Federer can still play great tennis, but winning the Slams is another story. “
