Espanyol’s 1×1 against Leganés in Butarque

Espanyol does not give for more. In Butarque he had the opportunity to face his closest rival and ended up beaten, just as the year will end as a solo bottom player. If the match against Betis left good feelings, against Leganés they dissipated. The staff is mired in pessimism.

Diego López, 5: Shake

Leganés’ first, only and clearest chance caught him by surprise. Braithwaite surpassed him and had no fortune to grow up and avoid it. In the second he could do little. In Butarque not even his character served to lift the team.

David López, 5: Worthy

He played when it seemed impossible due to the sprain he suffered against Betis last day. And yet he was the most worthy of defense. Only when he started playing pivot did Espanyol make some interesting plays.

Bernardo Espinosa, 3: Slow

He responded late and was years away from cutting off Braithwaite’s maneuver on the first cucumber goal. He covered En Nesyri in the second and was his best ally in scoring the second.

Calero, 4: Overwhelmed

He didn’t have his day. Displaced, he soon received a demoralizing pipe and a little later a yellow one. His attitude is irreproachable, but that the team is so messy does not favor him anything.

Víctor Gómez, 5: Inefficient

Neither forceful in defense nor direct in attack. He contributed little in a momentous match.

Barn, 5: Secluded

He tried to maintain control of the ball when it reached him, but the midfield was so locked that he could do little.

Marc Roca, 3: Unrecognizable

The double mistake in Leganés’ first goal is a symptom of what Espanyol’s season is and his in particular. Little concentration and less dignity.

Dídac Vilá, 4: Stagnant

Quite stagnant due to the constant increases of Rosales, but when he could he did not hesitate to join the attack, without luck. A great center of his could have meant the tie if Campuzano gets to finish well.

Darder, 5: Volunteer

Espanyol did not spin two passes in a row and only in Darder could hope be placed that he would catch the ball, find a space and shoot or give a decisive assist.

Campuzano, 5: Fighter

He fought against the wind and the cucumber defense, very far from the rival area, and without receiving too many balls in good condition. The only good Espanyol center came to him and he couldn’t finish well. He had another chance from outside the area that he went high.

Calleri, 4: Shipwrecked

He hardly received any balls and when he could, he was more focused on fighting defenders than on controlling them. The only ball that reached him inside the area was solved with great quality.

Ferreyra, 4: Rival

Sometimes he gives the impression that he is an insider.

Wu Lei, 5: Borderline

Just entering the point was to cause a penalty but as he always plays at the limit of the offside, he won the second.

Pedrosa, 5: Substitute

It seems condemned to the substitution when it is evident that it can contribute much more than Dídac. Especially in attack. It seems he still has to earn it.
