Corona after international matches causes worries in the Bundesliga

Rising number of corona infections after international games, financial losses and no plan B: The Bundesliga is threatened with disaster. The second wave has also arrived in football. The consequences could be serious.

Dhe streets in the city have become emptier, the highways anyway, there is even enough space in local public transport – apart from the rush hour, when the students have to squeeze into the bus as if nothing was happening. Nobody has to fear a crowd at the train station, not at the airport anyway. Working life in Germany takes place in the home office to a large extent, and the standard that the Chancellor had warned applies to business trips – only if they are absolutely necessary.

One industry, however, has little to do with it: professional sport travels across Europe and around the world. Perhaps not always carefree and with good feelings – the handball players recently asked themselves beforehand whether the European Championship qualifiers for the national team would really be such a good thing. It wasn’t: After several corona cases in the national team, some Bundesliga games had to be canceled.
