Bundesliga: Borussia Dortmund vs Bayern Munich, Munich turn the game

Dortmund coach Lucien Favre was able to fall back on the recently ailing Mats Hummels, and veteran Reus also returned to the starting line-up after the Champions League game in Bruges. His counterpart Hansi Flick had to do without Benjamin Pavard after the 6: 2 in the premier class at RB Salzburg, for him summer signing Bouna Sarr began.

After only 39 seconds it became dangerous for the first time: Lewandowski came half left in the Dortmund penalty area, but only hit the outside netting. Bayern initially acted more purposefully and permanently employed BVB. The guests also had the next opportunity: Leon Goretzka came after a cross from Jérôme Boateng for the header, Roman Bürki was able to parry (14th).

How you can get at Bayern was shown in the 20th minute: After a quick advance, Dortmund came to a two-on-two situation, at the end of which Erling Haaland shot the ball just past the goal to the right. But he was just as delicately offside as Robert Lewandowski a few minutes later, whose goal was not recognized after a long view of the television pictures (24th).

Kimmich injured himself in a foul on Haaland

Bayern continued to act in a superior manner, but they didn’t get more than a few half-chances. Then bad news for the guests: Joshua Kimmich had to be replaced in the 37th minute. He was apparently more seriously injured in a foul on Haaland, and Corentin Tolisso came on for him.

And in the 45th minute the goal was conceded: Mats Hummels had opened the Dortmund attack with a pass to the left wing, there Jadon Sancho put the passing Raphaël Guerreiro, whose pass into the back of the defense Reus from a central position chasing the bar (45th). The halftime lead? Think. In stoppage time, Munich was awarded a free kick at the edge of the penalty area. Lewandowski faked, Thomas Müller stopped, Alaba put the ball nicely with his left into the right corner (45th + 4).

Lewandowski hits the goal, Coman hits the post

The first exclamation point in the second half came from Dortmund: Haaland only barely missed in the 47th minute. Bayern met a minute later: Lucas Hernández was not significantly disturbed on his cross, Lewandowski prevailed against Hummels in the middle and headed an untenable for Bürki (48th). Now it was finally an attractive top game: Kingsley Coman hit the post (51st), Giovanni Reyna tested Manuel Neuer in the goal of the record champions (63rd).

Both coaches now changed diligently, and a joker stabbed: Sané finalized a counterattack by the Munich team with an untenable shot into the left corner (80th). BVB still had one answer: Haaland scored 2: 3 in the 83rd minute. Reus forgave the equalizer in the 87th minute when he shot the ball over the Bayern goal.

Munich are still at the top of the table with 18 points from seven games. After the defeat, Dortmund slipped to third place and with 15 points are one point behind RB Leipzig.
