Disillusionment at the BG Göttingen: The bitter 73: 100 (30:54) bankruptcy at the MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg has put the basketball world back on track with the violets.

Göttingen – As nice as the three victories in the BBL Cup and the qualification for the TOP FOUR in Munich were – they were probably not achieved against the best teams in the Bundesliga. In addition, the BGer employs a personality: In the foreseeable future, the Göttingen-based company will probably part with Ron Jackson again, as coach Roel Moors (more than) indicated. As a “temporary solution” so to speak, ex-player Harper Kamp (32) suddenly stepped in in Ludwigsburg.

“Ron is top human, has a good mentality,” says Moors of the man with the high-voltage hairstyle, which is reminiscent of the former boxing promoter Don King, a good attitude and cannot say anything negative about Jackson. “But he doesn’t have enough basketball understanding for the fourth position. It’s not the best option. We need a real foursome, ”said the Belgian BG coach.

The “4” – that is the position of the power forward in basketball. He should (also) put pressure on the wings. Moors goes on to say that he’s been looking for another player for Jackson for a long time. But you shouldn’t be too quick in your search. So it’s better to look in peace than to hire a replacement for Jackson in a hurry.

Meanwhile, Harper Kamp (32) helps out. He played from 2013 to 2016 and again in 2017/18 under ex-coach Johan Roijakkers for BG, in between for the Eisbären Bremerhaven. Most recently he took over the regional league team at ASC Göttingen. He was very often involved in BG training. Moors was already relying on Kamp’s good physique in Ludwigsburg.

“He was one of our best players in Ludwigsburg,” praised the Veilchen coach. On the “4”, Kamp, married to Tabea Aha (sister of the former BG 74 player Nele Aha) and now also father, “did a good job”, according to Moors. Kamp from Mesa (Arizona, USA) also contributed six points. “I feel good to be back after two years,” said Kamp in an interview with MagentaSport in Ludwigsburg. And Kamp also confirmed Moors’ words: “The coach wanted more body on the field.”

Coach Moors analyzed the game in Ludwigsburg clearly: “We didn’t show the collective game that made us strong before. We had too many individual actions. The game was actually already gone at half time. “

After the free Saturday, the game against Lower Saxony neighbor Löwen Braunschweig will be trained on Saturday. Curiously, it’s the duel penultimate (BG, minus 27 in Ludwigsburg) against last (Braunschweig (lost to Oldenburg at 28). (By Helmut Anschütz / gsd-nh)
