ATP – Finals> Rublev: “On my double fault, I was breathless by the previous point”

The Russian who nevertheless made a double fault on his match point rather wanted to be positive than to complain, especially since he has a very simple explanation to explain this error: “In this kind of match, it’s obvious that it’s painful to double fault at this precise moment. But I want to say it whatever the way, be it that or an opponent’s winning point. In the end, the match continues. But to be really precise on this moment of the match, I must admit that the point at 5 everywhere was very trying. It literally took my breath away. I couldn’t breathe for a while. The 25 seconds was not enough for me to recover when I had to serve. I should have taken more time even if I got a warning for time violation. It’s a good lesson, next time I think I’ll dare to take the risk. You always learn from your mistakes and I’m still learning ”
