“Amicable agreement” between Saibou and Baskets Bonn

Basketball Bundesliga team Telekom Baskets Bonn and professional Joshiko Saibou have reached an “amicable settlement” in their legal dispute. This was confirmed by the Bonn Labor Court on “dpa” request.

Both sides do not want to comment on the details of the agreement. The Baskets announced on Thursday that there was a “settlement”, the content of which had been agreed not to disclose.

The court had recently proposed nine months’ salary at a chamber meeting for the contract, which was still running for eleven months at the time of termination. Previously, the association had offered four monthly salaries at a quality meeting. The date of the announcement set for November 25th has now become obsolete due to the agreement.

The Baskets had terminated the 30-year-old Saibou without notice for “violating the requirements of the current employment contract as a professional athlete” after he had participated in a demonstration against the state measures to contain the corona pandemic in Berlin. Saibou described the dismissal as a “slap in the face of freedom of expression” and filed a lawsuit.
