“Without Andre Iguodala, nothing that happened in Orlando would have happened”

Chris Paul is the president of the NBA Players Association and Andre Iguodala is his second. Both have worked hard to get the NBA back in the Disney bubble and we as fans can only thank them. For the president in any case, the Disney experience is a success.

We obviously missed the fans. It was not the same energy, especially for me who plays for the Thunder. When you play OKC it’s different. When you put in a shot, you feel the crowd. But I think the virtual audience was amazing. Players could enter the field and see their families and loved ones on the screens, that means a lot. ” Chris Paul

Back to Iguodala now, and if he is often in the shadows, he has to be given a lot of credit for everything he has done in order to keep the players tight in the bubble.

All the people who are on our committee are not paid, you see. So it is a service that is rendered. It’s a service and that’s why I say hello to all the guys in our league who are on our board. Through it all, our committee has been incredible, but Andre Iguodala in particular. Without him, none of what happened in Orlando would have happened. We’ve been on the committee for years and the number of conversations he and I have had to try to manage all the players has been huge. You know, there are 450 players in the league so what’s good for one might not be good for the other. So we have to be aware that what we have to do sometimes involves really difficult conversations. In March, when we stopped playing it was because of COVID. Then we got these calls from the league to find a solution to replay and boom: the George Floyd story is coming. So it wasn’t just COVID to take into account. There was COVID, social injustices and new questions that arose. Before we wondered if we could play. Then we asked ourselves if we should play. The job the guys did in educating themselves on the situation, letting people go out and recruiting polling officers made the bubble a phenomenal blessing. Our players continue their work and we are grateful that this is the case ” Chris Paul

Obviously thanks to several speeches, Iguodala has greatly helped the players to find solutions by opening the discussions and helping everyone to weigh the pros and cons. He did that again when the Milwaukee Bucks decided to go on strike following the murder of Jacob Blake. Succeeding in taking on all of these responsibilities while currently struggling to win an NBA title definitely deserves a lot of respect. Well done Mr Iguodala.
