U-19 national team draws, Shin Tae-yong immediately fixes weaknesses of his team

The Indonesia U-19 national team coach Shin Tae-yong considered that his team still had several weaknesses during the draw with North Macedonia. He will try to fix it.

The U-19 national team was held to a 0-0 draw by North Macedonia in a trial match which was held at the NK Uskok Klis Stadium, Split, Croatia Wednesday (14/10/2020) evening WIB. Shin Tae-yong’s team failed to repeat the victory over North Macedonia in the first meeting on Sunday (11/10).

At that time, the U-19 national team won 4-1 over the same opponent. Witan Sulaeman contributed four winning goals for Garuda Muda, two goals from Jack Brown and Irfan Jauhari.

In this second match, Shin Tae-yong did make some changes in the arrangement starting line up his team compared to their first meeting against North Macedonia. Players like Bayu Fiqri, Beckham Putra and M Bahril were given the opportunity to play from the first minute.

Shin Tae-yong admitted that he was satisfied with the hard work shown by his foster children for 90 minutes. He also considered that the U-19 national team’s failure to perform optimally in this match could not be separated from the poor field conditions.

Even so, the coach from South Korea thinks the U-19 national team still has several weaknesses. One that is quite visible is the ability of David Maulana et al passing, and find empty space that still needs to be upgraded. Shin Tae-yong promises to immediately rectify the shortcomings.

“The players have worked hard, but have not shown their best performance. Today the field is not good enough, so the players cannot be optimal,” Shin Tae-yong was quoted as saying on the official PSSI website.

“For mental, physical, stamina, I think the players are better. In the future we have to fix the existing shortcomings,” said the 51-year-old coach.

In the next match, the U-19 national team will face Bosnia and Herzegovina, Tuesday (15/10/2020). This duel will be broadcast live on Mola TV.
