Third loss in a row for De Jong and his team, twice 0-0 in KKD

Sevilla started the La Liga season strongly, with two victories and a draw against FC Barcelona. In recent weeks, however, it has been a struggle for the reigning Europa League winner: the visit to Athletic Bilbao resulted in the third league defeat in a row.

Athletic Bilbao-Sevilla 2-1
Sevilla had won the Champions League game with Stade Rennes midweek and also started energetically in Bilbao. Luuk de Jong – the match winner against Stade Rennes – saw competitor Youssef En-Nesyri open the score early on. That score remained on the boards for more than an hour, but Athletic struck mercilessly in the final phase, thanks to two substitutes. First it was Iker Muniain who showed up at the far post, then Oihan Sancet: 1-1 and 2-1.

Go Ahead Eagles-Excelsior 0-0
The Saturday afternoon program in the Kitchen Champion Division provided little entertainment. Go Ahead Eagles and Excelsior did not score in the Adelaarshorst: the guests from Kralingen caused the most threat, but goalkeeper Jay Gorter held off Stijn Meijer, among others. Kuwait was already able to score his seventh clean sheet of the season, but remains in the middle bracket with thirteen points: Excelsior has one more point and is not making much progress with the points division in the Adelaarshorst.

Roda JC-FC Den Bosch 0-0
There were also no goals in South Limburg. FC Den Bosch missed a number of basic players and had to limit itself to holding back. The disappointing Roda JC could hardly profit from it, but could still smell the victory in the very last seconds. Ronald Alberg, however, shot over the crossbar and Robert Klaasen claimed a penalty in vain.
