The Red Devils will play their next matches in Leuven

The Red Devils will play their triptych for the month of November, against Switzerland (11/11), England (15/11) and Denmark (18/11), in the stadium of Oud-Heverlee Louvain, usual enclosure of Imps and Red Flames. The Belgian football federation announced it on Twitter on Friday.

Curfews and savings

Due to the curfew in force in Brussels, from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., the use of the King Baudouin Stadium was impossible, the City of Brussels not being ready to make an exception. Flanders, for its part, applies the ban on movement in public space between 24h00 and 5h00.

Another solution was to bring forward the start of the matches, initially scheduled for 8:45 p.m., but both rights holders and the federation and UEFA wanted to avoid it. The trip to Den Dreef was therefore logical, also because its rental is less expensive than that of the national stadium while no spectator should be able to attend these matches due to the coronavirus crisis.

After his duel against Denmark, the Devils will no longer play in Belgium until March 2021. “So we still have time to see what we’re going to do next”, said Stefan Van Loock, spokesperson for the Belgian Football Union.

The national team leads Group A2 of the Nations League. With 9 points, it is ahead of Denmark and England, which are tied with 7 points on the clock. To prepare as well as possible for these two decisive matches for accession to the Final Four, the Red Devils will face Switzerland in a preparation match.

It will be the first time since November 14, 2017, and a 1-0 friendly victory over Japan at the Jan Breydel stadium in Bruges, that the national team will perform in a Belgian stadium other than King Baudouin.

During the international break in October, Belgium shared against Côte d’Ivoire in a friendly (1-1) before losing in England (2-1) and winning in Iceland (1-2) .
