Summary

Russell Wilson chopped the New England Patriots’ defense into small chunks with five touchdown passes, but it took a save on Cam Newton for the Seattle Seahawks to win 35-30 on Sunday.

Wilson’s prowess came close to being relegated to second place and a losing cause, as Newton was fortunate enough to deliver the victory to Bill Belichick’s men in the dying moments of the game.

The Patriots recovered the ball five points behind after Wilson missed a rare pass to Tyler Lockett on a third down, forcing his team to clear with just under two minutes remaining in the game.

Newton moved up the field and brought his team to the goal gate with three seconds left on the clock. On the last play of the game, he attempted a ground breakthrough to complete his hat trick, but was held back by the Seahawks’ defense that cemented the Seattle victory.

Wilson can therefore celebrate, he who thus brought his total of passes for majors to nine this season, he who had thrown four in the first game against the Atlanta Falcons.

Wilson’s meeting had a bad start, however, as in the first attacking streak, he saw his pass being intercepted and brought back for a touchdown, while the ball fell to Gregg Olsen.

The Seahawks quarterback was not shaken by this situation, as he took matters into his own hands afterwards.

He threw a touchdown pass to five different players to help the Seahawks secure their second win of the season.

DK Metcalf, Tyler Lockett, David Moore, Chris Carson and Freddie Swain have all been Wilson’s touchdown targets. The latter concluded his game with 21 completed passes on 28 attempts and 288 yards through the air.

The Pats have suffered a first setback since the departure of Tom Brady for Tampa Bay, them who had won their first game of the season.

Cam Newton was impressive once again with two touchdowns and one touchdown pass. He concluded with a harvest of 397 passing yards and 47 rushing.

Newton set an NFL record with an eighth game of at least two majors by the run for a quarterback.

Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman ended the game with eight catches for 179 yards.

At the end of the first quarter, marauder Quandre Diggs was kicked out of the game for his tackle to the head of wide receiver N’Keal Harry.
