Gimnasia y Esgrima de Comodoro Rivadavia continues in the Founding Partners with its preparation with a view to the next edition of the National Basketball League 2020-2021, whose start is scheduled for November 1.
One of the players on the team that renewed the contract for one more season is the guard Juan Manuel Rivero, who is preparing to play his fifth season with the colors of “Green”.
“Pitu” Rivero has been in Comodoro Rivadavia for four years. He came to the city to play at that time as a temporary reinforcement of the also guard Leonel Schattmann, who had been injured. But the santafesino had very good performances and for that reason he continues linked to Gymnastics.
After Monday’s training, to which the press could not attend for reasons that are public knowledge, newspaper The Patagonian the 35-year-old player was contacted by phone.
Rivero, who was born in the Santa Fe city of Gálvez, spoke about the sensations of returning to training after seven months of inactivity as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. “Without a doubt, after such a long time stepping on a court again, it is a great joy,” said the guard.
Regarding how he feels after not having action on a court for so long, Rivero said: “I feel very good because I was training throughout the quarantine, so I want to thank the people of Kinetics for helping me at all times” , highlighted the player who in the last season – unfinished by Covid-19 -, had averages of 7.8 points per game, 1.5 rebounds, 1.2 assists in just over 18 minutes per game.
Juan Manuel also referred to the team that was formed for the National League that is coming in a few days. “I like the team building, a very good base was repeated and new teammates joined who play basketball well. I think that all teams are going to be in similar situations, since this system has never been played, “he admitted.
Regarding next season, which will be played in the bubble mode, Rivero remarked: “It is going to be a rare League, without an audience, with matches in a short time but in which we have to adapt and continue putting the club what higher as possible ”, assured the player who started in Santa Paula de Gálvez.
Rivero is preparing to play his fifth consecutive season with the colors of “Verde”, and for that reason he had words of thanks to the club for trusting once again in his services.
“It makes me very happy that they continue to trust one, that speaks of the fact that I do things well and strive every day to give my all,” said the Santa Fe basketball player who wore the shirts of Gimnasia de La Plata, Argentino de Junín, Deportivo Madryn, Central Entrerriano, Regatas Corrientes, Estudiantes de Bahía Blanca, again Regatas, Atenas de Córdoba, Bahía Basket, Estudiantes de Concordia, again Atenas, Boca Juniors and since 2016 it is in Gymnastics.
