– Preparations for this season have been extremely short due to the pandemic and most of our players will be playing matches every three days from now until the end of the season. That is why we try to manage the staff so as not to overuse anyone. There were a lot of changes in the second half, also in the set-up, so we lost the rhythm at times. I do not rule out that we will win the Italians with two strikers – said the Polish coach Jerzy Brzęczek after defeating the Finns.

Jerzy Brzęczek after the passage of the coronavirus, and above all after the wave of hatred that poured out on him both after the September campaign, and most of all after the publication of his biography “In the game”, he looked as if he had lost this 1-5 match. He spoke in a low voice, his face was marshy, his eyes beamed with humility.
– For sure, the first half was better for us than the second 45 minutes. We were aggressive in it, well organized, we quickly shifted the burden of the game to the opponent’s half – the selector analyzed.
– Congratulations to Kamil Grosicki who scored three goals, very important. In the second half, the rival changed the game system, we also made a few changes and it is always difficult for any team to adapt to new conditions. It was the moment of losing the rhythm of the game. The Finns have created situations for themselves, they scored a goal, but 5-1 is a good result. I am happy with the debuts. They were very good. Was it in the performance of Michał Karbownik, who started the match on the left-back, and then played on the left-midfield and worked out a goal. Jakub Moder also fared very well and made a great impression on me when I saw him for the first time during training. He had a lot of good plays, he was aggressive, great appearance – Jerzy Brzęczek smacked about young wolves from PKO Ekstraklasa.
Brzęczek was glad that Krzysztof Piątek and Arkadiusz Milik scored the goals.
– For every striker, after a few matches without a goal, such a breakout is very important, especially in the situation in which Arek Milik found himself in Napoli. For the boys, it is a reward for consistency and for the fact that they come to the team with humility and always train, play hard – he praised.
Asked by us about the prospect of a match against Italy, with whom it will be much more difficult to create difficult situations, Jerzy Brzęczek did not rule out the game with two strikers.
The most important issue for the Polish coach is the health of all players, after the coronavirus took Maciej Rybus from him, and the injury of Arkadiusz Reca.
– Within an hour we lost two defenders yesterday. That is why we called Alan Czerwiński, who played, although he did not train with us even once. After an hour of play, we decided to spare Bartek Bereszyński, and we did not field Tomek Kędziora in this match at all, due to the fact that from the beginning of the season in Dynami Kijów, in the Ukrainian league, he played every three days in the Champions League qualifiers. We have to reasonably manage the strength of our players so that they are not over-exploited before the European Championship by the end of the season – he explained
