Osasuna celebrates its centenary in style

Osasuna added three points against Athletic to celebrate its centenary thanks to Rubén García’s penalty goal in a not very showy match in which both teams did not offer their best version and which is a brake on the alleged reaction of the Bilbao team.

The rojillos players listened live to the centenary anthem performed by Serafín Zubiri in the run-up to the match with their minds set on Athletic, a rival who, until today, liked to visit El Sadar and who did so with numerous former players of the Pamplona club .

Equality and inaccuracies were the predominant notes in a first half in which the offensive players of both teams could not enjoy opportunities to try to overtake their team.

Incidents:

Match corresponding to the seventh day of the Santander League played at the El Sadar stadium.

Jagoba Arrasate lined up Nacho Vidal and Roncaglia on the right wing from the beginning to stop the attacks of ex-rogue Álex Berenguer. With this, he blocked a good part of the danger of an Athletic that did not go through great moments of trouble back.

The second half started like the first, with rhythm, but without obvious scoring chances. It was difficult for the two squads to find the opposite goal with a not very fluid game that made it difficult for the spectator to see an entertaining duel.

Arrasate wanted to reverse the script of the match by entering Kike Barja and Adrián López to have greater overflow and quality in the final meters. The Navarrese was one of the protagonists of the match thanks to an action that ended in a favorable penalty for the locals.

In the 79th minute Ander Capa knocked down Barja inside the area and the referee decreed the penalty that put things very expensive for the Pamplona club. Rubén García crossed the ball from eleven meters to the opposite side chosen by Unai Simón to score the winning goal.

Osasuna suffered in the final minutes before the referee decreed the end of a match in which the rojillos took three points to put the icing on their centenary against an Athletic that could not maintain the reaction outlined last day.
