Incoming Queensland coach Wayne Bennett has made the brutal call to sack his former club skipper Justin Hodges from the Maroons coaching staff.
Rabbitoh’s trainer Bennett will lead the Maroons into battle when his commitments with South Sydney are completed, but he hasn’t wasted time making some tough calls.
Ben Dobbins of Nine News Queensland reported that in 2019 Bennett will replace Queensland’s assistant, Hodges, with the more experienced Neill Henry.

“Wayne Bennett believed he needed more experienced assistant coaches to help as they were having an uphill battle against NSW,” said Dobbins.
“The bloodshed started with Justin Hodges, last year’s assistant, let loose by Wayne Bennett and Wayne Bennett [he] will not be involved in this year’s series. “
Bennett’s decision to cut his 2015 Broncos skipper in favor of a more experienced coach is unlikely to be the only victim when the Queensland roster is revealed on Wednesday.

Cowboy striker Josh McGuire is expected to be overlooked after playing 14 games for the Maroons since 2015.
However, Dobbins believes that 30-year-old McGuire could be set for a shock return to the Broncos under Kevin Walters in 2021.
“My post is that he could end up with the Brisbane Broncos next year,” said Dobbins.
A suitable McGuire would be a huge boost for the Brisbane Broncos. “
