“The allegations are false and represent an unjustifiable defamation of my client,” O’Brien told the newspaper.

It was also alleged that the Burgess “sat outside Smith’s house for an hour” when he tried to confront him on the belief that he was behind “exposing the sexting scandal.”
The report also detailed how Burgess admitted to his estranged wife that he was having an affair in Melbourne while captaining England at the 2017 Rugby League World Cup.
The Daily Telegraph published a series of WhatsApp messages between Burgess and a woman between October 2017 and May 2018, which gave details of meetings in hotels in Melbourne.
