Matthias Ginter: “I could have earned significantly more”

Dhe result was clear. With 37 percent of the fan votes, Matthias Ginter was voted German national player of the year for the first time. Borussia Mönchengladbach’s defender relegated Bayern’s Serge Gnabry (28.3%) and Joshua Kimmich (8.4%) to their places.

Ginter is not only considered a prudent defender with a playful class in the build-up, he also stands out in the professional industry because of his level-headed and down-to-earth manner. “Money has never been my motivation,” he says in an interview and finds critical words for the image of the national team.

Question: Mr. Ginter, Inter Milan, Atlético Madrid and Chelsea wanted to sign you this summer. How often have you thought: Okay, would I be tempted to change?
