Real Madrid suffered their first defeat in the Spanish League this season. The defending LaLiga champions fell 0-1 at the hands of the promotion team, Cadiz.
Madrid hosted Cadiz at Estadio Alfredo Di Stefano, Saturday (17/10/2020) evening WIB. Los Blancos pressed the visitors’ defense from the early minutes of the match.
Instead of scoring goals, Madrid conceded first in the 16th minute. Antony Lozano successfully tore the home team’s net with his kick ball, taking advantage of Alvaro Negredo. Cadiz leads 1-0.
Behind one goal, Madrid continued to launch attacks in order to equalize the score. Fun attacking, Madrid almost conceded again in the 30th minute.
Lozano brings the ball and faces Courtois one on one. The ball can still be saved by the Madrid goalkeeper.
There are no extra goals until the break. Cadiz closed the first half with a 1-0 advantage.
Entering the second half, Madrid continued to appear to attack and try to score goals. Vinicius Junior snaked in the Cadiz penalty area and fired a shot in the 49th minute, but his effort was yet to hit the mark.
Madrid scored a goal in the 79th minute through Luka Jovic’s ball which received Karim Benzema’s pass. The goal was not recognized because Benzema was caught offside before getting the ball from Marcelo.
One minute later, Madrid had another golden opportunity. Benzema’s kick from outside the penalty box hit Cadiz’s crossbar.
Madrid continued to pound Cadiz’s back line for the remaining time. However, until the match ended, the score 1-0 for the visitors did not change.
This defeat has not made Madrid displaced from the top of the standings by 10 points. There is also Cadiz stalking in second place and has the same points with Los Merengues.
