Jon Jones continued to voice his frustration at the question Khabib Nurmagomedov. When UFC officially announced Khabib rose to first place, Jon Jones immediately gave scathing comments.
Khabib, who has been in second place in the UFC’s best ranking list, rose to first place, displacing Jon Jones.
Jon Jones did not accept this fact and immediately uploaded a comment replying to the announcement from UFC.
“This is lie number one,” said Jon Jones via his Twitter account.
Jon Jones then criticized Khabib as a fighter who had not been fully tested as a UFC champion.
“Only winning points over a substitute at the last minute, Al Iaquinta to be champion. Conor McGregor is the only opponent Khabib is really known to the public at large. Suddenly he became the best fighter, this is really funny,” said Jon Jones.
Jon Jones had declared his retirement from UFC in mid-2020. But later, he was reportedly ready to be active again and would fight in heavyweight, aka moving up the class from before when he was more often dueling in the light heavyweight class.
Before this official announcement made by the UFC, Jon Jones had already opposed Khabib’s request. For Jon Jones, Khabib is not yet worthy of being the number one fighter at the UFC because he has only gone through four world title battles.
Jon Jones himself has gone through 15 title matches in his career as a fighter at the UFC.
“I’m talking to all of you Khabib fans out there. Fifteen world titles compared to your idol’s four title bouts. You’re kidding, right? Fifteen to four. Are you kidding?” said Jon Jones, quoted from BJPENN.
Jon Jones has been the UFC champion for the light heavyweight class since 2011. He has been unbeaten since then even though he had to remove the title due to a violation of the athlete’s code of ethics and also positive for turinabol which made the match against Daniel Cormier declared a no contest.
Jon Jones has lost only once in his career, against Matt Hamill. But the defeat was due to disqualification not because of pure defeat.
