Football Leaks: Rui Pinto will also have joined the Vieira de Almeida law firm – Portugal

The law firm Vieira de Almeida (VdA) was also allegedly accessed by Rui Pinto in the context of the Football Leaks case, said today the inspector of the Judicial Police (PJ) José Amador.

At the seventh session of the trial that takes place at the Central Criminal Court of Lisbon, the inspector admitted that the law firm that represents Doyen was also targeted – similarly to what is attributed to Rui Pinto in relation to Sporting, Doyen, Portuguese Federation of Football, the PLMJ law firm and the Attorney General’s Office – because a complaint was found by the investment fund CEO to the then attorney general Joana Marques Vidal in the devices apprehended by the platform creator.

“Among other entities that had the same type of problem was the law firm that represented Doyen, Vieira de Almeida. With a high probability, [os documentos] they will have been exfiltrated from the Vieira de Almeida office “, affirmed the witness of the process, stressing that a certificate was extracted from this process and that it is now under investigation and under secrecy.

According to José Amador, the PJ did not dwell on this specific situation because “there was no time for more”, while regretting the rejection of the request for special complexity of the process that would extend the investigation’s working time.

“When we were faced with the reality of those records, we realized very quickly that we were dealing with something of an odd size. We would have to be 10 times more and probably it would not reach half [da informação]”, he stressed, adding:” We did not have much time for the analysis of the files and that presided over the selection of the entities that would appear in the indictment “.

In fact, the inspector stressed that Rui Pinto would have accompanied the investigation from an early age, when “very extensive digitizations of the investigation” and “specific pieces” of the process were found.

Subsequently, the questioning phase of the legal representatives of the assistants in the José Amador lawsuit began, with the inspector responding to the FPF lawyer, Pedro Barosa, that Rui Pinto’s actions would follow “a targeted target logic”. On the other hand, he avoided defining whether this would have been the work of one person or of several, defending only the existence of the “seal of a person”, with “specific evidence and modus operandi”.

Regarding the possible assignment of ‘passwords’ for accessing encrypted discs to the French authorities, who made copies of the devices during the period in which Rui Pinto was detained in Hungary, the Judiciary inspector stressed that he had no knowledge.

“If he gave these credentials, I don’t know. If he didn’t give them, they have no way of getting there. Either he did and they have, or he didn’t,” said José Amador, who will continue to be heard in the afternoon in court.

Rui Pinto, 31, is responsible for a total of 90 crimes: 68 of undue access, 14 of violation of correspondence and 6 of illegitimate access, targeting entities such as Sporting, Doyen, PLMJ law firm, the Federation Portuguesa de Futebol and the Attorney General’s Office, and also for computer sabotage to Sporting’s SAD and for extortion, in the attempted form. This last crime concerns Doyen and also led to the pronunciation of the lawyer Aníbal Pinto, then representative of Rui Pinto.

The creator of Football Leaks has been at liberty since August 7, “due to his collaboration” with the Judicial Police (PJ) and his “critical sense”, but is, for security reasons, inserted in the protection program of witnesses in an undisclosed location and under police protection.
