In 1B, Deinze and Westerlo opened the 8th matchday with a 1-1 draw. Westerlo seemed on his way to his 2nd victory of the season, but Mertens equalized in the final phase.

Brüls is ubiquitous, Deinze wins point
After a handsome 10 out of 12, Deinze was at the kick-off with a bucket full of confidence. After 17 minutes that resulted in the opening goal of Lennart Mertens, who worked the ball in at the 2nd post with his chest.
Westerlo reacted just after the break. Brüls turned a free kick towards the 1st post, where Perdichizzi pushed in the equalizing goal.
The visitors pushed on. 20 minutes before the end, Brüls saw his kick explode on the crossbar. Moments later Dierckx headed against the post. Vetokele got the ball in an attack later on a pass from the inevitable Brüls.
Westerlo seemed to be on his way to his first three-pointer since September 13, after 3 postponed games and a draw against Lommel. But that was without a late header goal from (again) Mertens. On Monday evening, both teams will face each other again in a catch-up match.
