Cristiano Ronaldo tests positive for coronavirus

According to the statement, Ronaldo is “good, symptom-free and isolated”.

The 35-year-old Juventus striker played for Portugal against France in the Nations League on Sunday and in a friendly against Spain last week.

Ronaldo will now miss his country’s next Nations League game against Sweden on Wednesday, as well as the upcoming Juventus games, which include a Serie A clash with Crotone and a Champions League group game against Dynamo Kyiv.

International break

Despite the increasing cases of Covid-19 worldwide, many footballers have left their clubs to play international games.

However, some clubs have not approved players for their country, including the Austrian club RB Salzburg, whose players have been called up for Mali, Cameroon, Zambia, Austria and Hungary.

On Monday, Ronaldo posted a photo on social media, where he shares a meal with his Portuguese teammates.

The striker has scored two league goals in two games for Juventus so far this season – one against Sampdoria and a brace against AS Roma.

He also scored two goals when Portugal beat Sweden 2-0 in the Nations League last month.

With his first goal against Sweden, Ronaldo became the second player to reach the milestone of 100 international goals. He is now eight goals behind the international record of 109 set by Iranian Ali Daei.
Ronaldo flew back to his native Madeira earlier this year as coronavirus cases increased across Europe and football was suspended, according to Reuters.

He then helped Juventus to win the Serie A title after the league was resumed.
