“The gap is smaller than expected”
From an objective point of view, Antwerp against Beerschot is a sportively attractive poster anyway. The number five is opposite the number three in the stand. Because of Antwerp glasses, it is mainly the match against the great rival. “I think it is the biggest derby in the country, yes”, laughs Tia Hellebaut.
“There is always a lot to experience. It really is us against them that day. Especially now that we are above Antwerp. After three matches we still thought we were above our stand in the rankings, but this is a moment to enjoy. In addition, it is sporting that Antwerp is also coming. “
“Absolutely, the gap between the two teams is smaller than expected”, Luk Wyns admits. “We see that PhD students are doing well in recent years. That was the case with Antwerp, with KV Mechelen and now with Beerschot.”
“I do think that the derby is nothing more than a snapshot and does not say much about the value ratios over the entire season. We (Antwerp) can take 12 out of 12, we are more stable. And the good news is that Mbokani can participate again. “
Excitement and spectacle seems assured on Sunday. “I trust it will be a fun match,” says Hellebaut. “It’s a special game anyway and we score a lot and get a lot of goals. I also read that a German study says that teams on the move get more points without an audience in the stadiums, so let’s hope that helps us.”
“A statue for Losada”
Antwerp recovers Mbokani, at Beerschot a lot of hope rests on the shoulders of Raphael Holzhauser. “It is important to us that it runs well,” says Tia Hellebaut. “With so many goals and assists, he can really win the Golden Shoe. Especially since only the second round of voting counts this year.”
“But I also want to give kudos to Hernan Losada. He is a very good people manager and he lets this team play football really well. If he continues like this, he will soon get a statue on the Kiel.”
The Austrian should not count on that a few kilometers away in Deurne, of course. Nor is Lamkel Zé meanwhile, whose visit to Beerschot is not appreciated.
“You cannot ignore the fact that Holzhauser does many beautiful and surprising things, but we do not need him”, says Luk Wyns. “We especially need a striker. And yes, Lamkel Zé … after his two yellow cards against AZ, I already thought it was better to say goodbye.”
“It is great that they gave him another chance again and again, but turning up on Beerschot is a step too far, I think. You know what it is, if he has to behave, then he is less brilliant. He is at best as a mad god. “
