Bastian Schweinsteiger does not plan to return to Bayern

Bastian Schweinsteiger is still a welcome guest at Bayern Munich.

Many fans would like the midfield legend, who played for the Munich team between 2002 and 2015 and won the triple in 2013, to return to an official position. But so far Schweinsteiger has other plans.

“I don’t see a return to Bayern at the moment,” said Schweinsteiger in the kicker: “The club is in a great position.”

With Oliver Kahn, who is to take over the post of CEO from Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, and Hasan Salihamidzic, who was promoted to sports director in 2020, two key positions have been filled for the time being.

Rummenigge lured Schweinsteiger

Rummenigge said in 2019 on the occasion of Schweinsteiger’s retirement: “He’s a great guy, the doors at Bayern are always open to him.”

In the DOES said the long-time DFB captain, who ended his career at Chicago Fire between 2017 and 2019, most recently: “If something interesting comes along that I enjoy, I’ll think about it.”

But if he does something, “then I want to win too and get something off the ground”.

Schweinsteiger: That’s the relationship with Löw

Schweinsteiger has been working as a ARD-Expert and last worked for the Nations League. The 36-year-old criticized Joachim Löw for having five defenders against Ukraine.

“One or the other player in the national team saw it – I think – in exactly the same way,” said Schweinsteiger, who emphasized that he still had a good relationship with Löw.

“When I talk about tactical things, I see it as a factual exchange,” said the 2014 world champion, who also took a stand on another topic.

Schweinsteiger would take Boateng and Müller with him

“If I were the national coach, Boateng and Müller would be in the national team,” explained Schweinsteiger: “But I’m not the national coach.”

But it is Löw’s decision “which one has to respect”. Schweinsteiger was last in the ARD pronounced for Boateng: “Personally, I always say: The best should play. The best players there are in Germany. And I see Jérôme Boateng at a very high level, you saw it in the Champions League.”

The Bayern stars were retired by Löw in 2019, especially after the disappointing results of the national team, the discussions about Müller, Boateng and Mats Hummels flared up again.
