For the third time in its club history after 1994 and 2012, the ASV Pressbaum-Badminton can call itself the Austrian Badminton Team Champion. Due to the Corona protective measures, the Badminton Bundesliga was ended after the basic round without playoff games. The winner of the regular season, the ASV Pressbaum Badminton, is thus Bundesliga champion of the 2019/20 season.
Country conference decided
Decisive for the outcome of the 2019/20 Bundesliga season were the decisions of the ÖBV international conference, which unanimously agreed to cancel the championship after the regular round. Since the remaining finals (semifinals and finals) Corona could no longer be played, the international conference agreed with 7: 1 votes to use the result after the basic round for the title decision.
Revenge for the preseason
Last year, Traun was able to prevail against Pressbaum in three narrow finals – this year Pressbaum was able to turn the final result. “It is with great pleasure that we would like to express our thanks to all the helpers and supporters of the ASV Pressbaum Badminton”, says master chairman Andreas Meinke, that without him the championship would not have been possible. Mödling finished the season in fourth place as the second blue-yellow Bundesliga representative.
