This Wednesday at the General Paz sports center a comprehensive meeting was held in order to promote women’s sport and, on this occasion, community and federated women’s basketball, both in the capital city and in Greater Córdoba and the provincial interior .
The meeting was attended by the Undersecretary of Sports and Recreation of the Municipality of Córdoba, Medardo Ligorria and the directors Horacio Garimaldi and Román Huespe; on behalf of the Córdoba Sports Agency, Diego Brazzale; Professor Walter Garrone; the president of the Cordoba Basketball Federation, Mario Ontiveros; the president of the Cordoba Basketball Association Rubén Whelan; Silvina Trapiella, representing Atebara and representatives of clubs, other institutions and leaders of the activity.
At the meeting, the current situation of women’s basketball, its problems and needs, was analyzed and it was defined that next Wednesday, September 23, there will be a second meeting to define the actions to be followed.
The Municipality of Córdoba will support the development of the discipline in terms of infrastructure, fields for training and competition, services, advertising, elements for practice and financial support.
