Fontajau’s offices are breathing a little calmer today after FIBA has decided, for the time being, to rule out postponing the Euroleague until January in the face of coronavirus outbreaks in different parts of the continent. At the moment, the dates of the competition are maintained as planned and, for example, Spar Girona will play their preliminary round against the Romanian Sepsis on 23 and 30 September. The group stage will begin in mid-October.
However, FIBA warns that they will follow the evolution of the pandemic “day by day” and that they will meet with clubs and federations to create a specific security protocol for their competitions.
The @FIBA Europe Board has approved next year’s youth competition organizers and has decided on tip-off dates for @EuroLeagueWomen, @EuroCupWomen and @FIBAEuropeCup.https://t.co/qajhiOleiv
