UEFA Europa League
Standard has done what it had to do and simply put Bala Town, an amateur team from Wales, aside in the 2nd qualifying round of the Europa League. It became 2-0, the halftime score was also the final score. The Welshmen missed the chance of 1-1 from the spot. Standard advance to the penultimate qualifying round in the Europa League against the Serbs of Vojvodina on September 24.

But unfortunately the Welsh trainer had forgotten the atoning sacrifice for his own strikers. Captain Venables also missed an excellent opportunity on the other side.
Standard did have the ball, but was too lavish with his chances and had little patience. A feather-light penalty foul on Vanheusden was therefore welcome. Avenatti converted the eleven meters without any problems: 1-0.
Bala Town misses a penalty kick
The lead seemed to liberate Standard a bit, but Bala Town also showed itself. The Welshmen also received a penalty kick to make it surprisingly equal. Arnaud Bodart saved Standard from more trouble.
They did not need a greater warning in Liège. Amallah – consciously or not – deviated a shot from Gavory in the left corner, good for a 2-0 halftime score.
Bala Town couldn’t find the courage to fight after the break in the locker rooms, Standard didn’t waste too much energy. The people from Liège did not have to shine for a ticket for the penultimate preliminary round against Vojvodina from Serbia.
