Overeem, Sakai was preparing to headline

LAS VEGAS – MMA Junkie was there and reported live from the official UFC on Friday about ESPN + 34 fighter weigh-ins, in which all fighters left their mark on the map.

In the main event, the former heavyweight title challenger Alistair Overeem (46-18 MMA, 11-7 UFC) meets Augusto Sakai (15-1-1 MMA, 4-0 UFC). The heavyweights were the last fighters to hit the scales in the two-hour official window, though they likely barely had to shave weight at the last minute. Overeem was 252.5 pounds. Sakai was 261.5.

As a co-function, Alonzo Menifield (9-1 MMA, 2-1 UFC) will face Ovince Saint Preux (24-14 MMA, 12-9 UFC) in a light heavyweight fight that was delayed two weeks ago. Saint Preux was the first fighter to weigh in for the event and was 205.5 pounds. Menifield came in at 204.

The tradeoffs took place at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. In the same place is the Saturday card that is streamed on ESPN +.
