Fine for Dumoulin in Tour de France because of time trial outfit | 1Limburg

Tom Dumoulin was fined 2,000 Swiss francs (approximately 1,850 euros) on Saturday after the dramatic time trial for his team in the Tour de France for violating the UCI rules regarding the use of the rainbow symbols.

Teammate Tony Martin, both former world champions in the race against time, was also fined. According to the UCI, the duo has violated article 1.3.064. This article is about the use of the rainbow symbols on the time trial suit.

Not for the first time
It is not the first time this Tour that Jumbo-Visma has been penalized. Sporting director Merijn Zeeman of Jumbo-Visma was expelled from the Tour on Thursday for intimidation and insulting a UCI member. He was fined 2,000 Swiss francs. The Belgian driver Wout van Aert from Jumbo-Visma also received a financial sanction three times in this Tour.

Dramatic time trial
The Slovenian leader Primoz Roglic of Jumbo-Visma unexpectedly lost his leading position in the standings on the penultimate day of the Tour. His countryman Tadej Pogacar seized power with a strong ride and will normally be honored as the winner in Paris on Sunday.
