Covid-19: three new positive cases in PSG, six in total

As we revealed at the end of the afternoon, PSG has several new cases of Covid-19 within its professional workforce. This Thursday evening, the club of the capital announces the results of the tests carried out in the morning at the Camp des Loges or Wednesday by players such as Marquinhos or Mauro Icardi. “The latest SarsCoV2 PCR tests carried out within the Paris Saint-Germain workforce confirm the result of three new positive cases,” wrote the club in a brief medical statement.

PSG do not reveal any name but one of them could be Marquinhos. The other two affected players would also be part of the “Ibiza gang”, namely among those who left to spend a few days of vacation on the Balearic Island until Wednesday evening. Neymar, Angel Di Maria and Leandro Paredes, diagnosed positive since Wednesday, were among the players present in Ibiza. They notably frequented Ander Herrera, Keylor Navas, Mauro Icardi and Marco Verratti on site.

One thing is certain: this Thursday evening, PSG totaled six cases of Covid-19 in its workforce. The club also has a dozen players mobilized in the national team until the middle of next week. These two factors together make the start of the 2020-2021 season difficult to schedule, as the first official match is due to take place in a week in Lens, on Thursday, September 10. A further postponement now seems more than likely.
