Court sentenced climate activists for tennis in CS branch

Unlike the single judge, the Cantonal Court of Vaud does not recognize a “justifying state of emergency” that would have legitimized the act of civil disobedience.

They were not allowed into the courtroom because of the Covid-19 regulations – so the sympathizers of the accused climate activists gathered in front of the building.

The judge’s verdict was awaited with great anticipation – and it turned out to be as most observers had suspected in advance: shortly after 10 a.m., the cantonal court of Vaud ordered the twelve climate activists who protested in a Credit Suisse (CS) branch in 2018. Had played tennis, convicted of trespassing and the violation of the Ordinance Fine Act. It is thus amending the January ruling by the Lausanne District Court, which had made waves far beyond the country’s borders.
