49ers roster cuts tracker: CB Jamar Taylor is out

The San Francisco 49ers have freed veteran cornerback Jamar Taylor, through Tom Pelissero. Nickel cornerback K’Waun Williams recently returned to practice and Taylor replaced Williams. As depth has improved at the cornerback, passing from Taylor is not a loss. The 49ers are feeling good with their top five cornerbacks: Richard Sherman, Emmanuel Moseley, Williams, Jason Verrett and Ahkello Witherspoon. We didn’t think Taylor would be on the list.

Even with Verrett injured, he shouldn’t miss more than three weeks, by a buddy who’s a doctor. He said recovery is athlete based and can last anywhere from 5 to 21 days. This should secure Verrett’s place. As for Taylor, he was having a hard time staying with Trent Taylor in the slot. Trent had the best of Jamar in training. I don’t think he’s bad, but there is a difference between him and K’Waun. Maybe Jamar will land on the practice squad.

We will continue to update the list clippings as they arrive.
