Only the formations with two infected riders will be expelled, after discovering a couple of cases of assistants in the Belgian Lotto

The health protocol was softened for the teams regarding the risk of expulsion from the Tour de France: there will be two cases of positive runners in covid-19, in a period of seven days, which will lead to exclusion, sources close to the race.

Last week, the Tour organizers had announced this measure for two positive cases related to the group of members of each formation present in the ‘bubble’ of the race, about thirty people per team. The teams were suspicious of this measure, which increased the risk of expulsion.

Neither the International Cycling Union (UCI) nor the Tour organization (ASO) specified at the moment how the measure will be applied, which will be made official in the next few hours.

At the moment, two cases of covid-19 were announced on Thursday, 48 hours after the departure of the first stage. Both correspond to two non-cycling members of the Lotto, which sent them home together with the people they shared a room with.
