The Barcelona Revolution is “cruel”, but it must be done

KOMPAS.com – Barcelona Technical Director Ramon Planes supports the squad revolution launched by coach Ronald Koeman.

Ronald Koeman was appointed as the new Barcelona coach to replace Quique Setien.

After being appointed as the captain of the Blaugrana, the Dutch tactician immediately moved quickly.

Koeman made a bold move by eliminating several big names, one of which was Luis Suarez.

On Monday (24/8/202), Koeman reportedly contacted Suarez by telephone.

Koeman invited the Uruguayan bomber to find work at another club.

The way Barcelona got rid of him made Luis Suarez very disappointed.

Suarez is rumored to be sending his lawyer to discuss terminating his contract with Barcelona.

This condition has also sparked criticism of Barcelona President Josep Maria Bartomeu, who was considered cowardly and indecisive.

Apart from Suarez, other names that Koeman immediately eliminated were Arturo Vidal, Ivan Rakitic, and Samuel Umtiti.

Responding to Koeman’s breakthrough, Barcelona Technical Director Ramon Planes also spoke up.

In a press conference on Wednesday (26/8/2020), Planes said that the dismissal of players was a natural thing.

Planes assessed this was part of Koeman’s plan to build Barcelona’s future.

“The victim? The club is working internally on the new project,” said Planes, as quoted from Sports world.

“Koeman said he would speak to the players personally, he has done it and is doing it, you have to have a lot of respect for a player who has given everything to Barça,” he added.

“These are difficult times and sometimes painful decisions, but they are personal and internal conversations,” said Planes.

As well as an overhaul of the squad, Barcelona are also working to “appease” their captain Lionel Messi, who has asked to leave.
